Former Baltimore Ravens backup safety Tom Zbikowski has agreed to a three-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts, Zbikowski told the South Bend Tribune.
Zbikowski, 27, a former standout at Notre Dame, wlll be reunited with Colts coach Chuck Pagano in Indianapolis. Pagano, who served as Baltimore defensive coordinator last season, previously welcomed ex-Ravens defensive end Cory Redding to the Colts.
In four seasons with the Ravens, Zbikowski had 88 tackles and two interceptions. He started four games last season.
The chance to start with the Colts was one reason for his decision to leave Baltimore.
He said he wouldn’t have a chance to start with the Ravens.
“Not unless they’re going to play me over Ed Reed,” Zbikowski told the Tribune. “And that wouldn’t be right. It was a great experience playing with him, though. You get so much confidence being able to bounce ideas off him.”
